Singapore International Triathlon 2014

Singapore, 23 July 2014: The prestigious 15th annual Singapore International Triathlon is on track to be one of the biggest yet – with a field of some of the world’s top triathletes and new family entertainment over the August 16-17 weekend.

MetaSport Managing Director Nathalie Marquet said the new family carnival and live music were exciting additions to the renowned event.

“While the triathlon will be a similar format to previous years, we’ve added some entertaining new activities for participants and spectators on both days,” Ms. Marquet said.

“There’ll be a free live music concert on Saturday afternoon and a family carnival both days, along with a barbeque, fun duos and free Pilates classes.

“Competitors will still be swimming, biking and running through the beautiful East Coast Park course, but now they’ll celebrate their race with the award ceremony at Angsana Park, along with food, drinks and music.

“This event is not just for elite triathletes. People of all ages and fitness levels can get involved in the mini race, relays and the corporate challenge.

“We’re expecting up to three-thousand participants, with some of the best triathletes from around the world travelling to compete here in Singapore, and we’re excited to be a part of this great event for the first time, working with Triathlon Association of Singapore,” Ms. Marquet said.

As in previous years, the event is sanctioned as an Asian Cup Race by the International Triathlon Union (ITU), the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) and supported by Sport Singapore.

General Manager of the Triathlon Association of Singapore Eugene Ong said this year’s elite field would be as strong as ever.

“Last year, Asian competitors faced tough competition with Ireland’s Benjamin Shaw finishing well ahead of the rest of the field the course in 1 hour and 57 minutes,” Mr. Ong said.

“Japan’s Chiko Sato took our last year’s women’s event with a time of 2 hours 13 minutes. Zhiyun Lin was the top placed of the Singaporean competitors with a strong time of 2 hours 27 minutes.

“And to add to the prestige of the event, Singaporeans triathletes will battle it out over the Olympic distance race course for the Singapore National Triathlon Championships age-group title,” he said.

The official charity of the Singapore International Triathlon is SportCares, an organisation that helps improve the lives of disadvantaged kids through a sport.

LAWAK AHAD: MONYET PAILANG

Kerana terlalu letih, tertidur la dia kat bawah pokok tuu..tiba-tiba dia terdengar bunyi ‘sqoh..sqeh..sqoh..sqeh’. Terbangun la dia..dia tengok keliling, tergejut beruk la dia …’aik!! mana pi topi aku semua?’.

Wahhh..cam na ni, mesti kena marah ngan tokey nanti pasai topi dia hilang. Lepas tu, dia dengar bunyi sqoh..sqeh…sqoh..sqeh’ tu kat atas pokok.

Berpuluh-puluh ekor monyet kat atas pokok tu, semua pakai topi sorang satu..

Dekat- dekat nak ‘give-up’ juga la orang tua tu. Tergaru-garu kepala la dia..aik!! dia tengok monyet-monyet tu pun ikut tiru dia ,dia lompat, monyet tu pun ikut lompat semua..

Dapat la balik semua topi-topi diaa…Pas waktu dia dah balik kekampung, dia pun cerita la ‘keterer an’ dia tu kat anak dia. Waktu berlalu begitu pantas.

Dia pun terdengar bunyi ‘sqoh..sqeh..sqoh..sqehh’ kat atas pokok tuu…..hmmhhh. monyet-monyet tu dah ambik topi dia.

Dia pun buat la macam-macam untuk menakutkan monyet-monyet tu utk ambik balik topi tuu, tapi tak leh gak. Last-last teringat la dia ngan cerita nenek dia dulu..diapun test la, dia garu-garu kepala, monyet2 tu pun garu2 kepala gak, dia lompat, monyet2 tu pun lompat gak..dia pun naik syok laa, dalam hatinya ‘bodoh juga monyet2 ni..’..Lalu dia ambik topi kat atas kepala dia..dia lempaq la ke tanah dengan harapan monyet2 tu tiru cam dia gak.

Aikkk!!! Monyet-monyet tu semua tengok ke dia..tak sekoq pun yang tiru dia kali ni utk lempar topi ketanah. Termangu dia sendirian..tiba-tiba turun seekor anak monyet, tapi sebelum dia turun, dia sangkut dulu topi tu kat ranting atas pokok tu. Anak monyet tu langsung pi dekat telinga dia dan berbisik, “hang ingat, hang sorang aja ada nenekkkkk…?”
