Nike Air Zoom Structure 18

Strength and growth come from continuous effort — but growing up doesn’t have to mean slowing down, as proven by the new, revolutionary Nike Air Zoom Structure 18. Now in its 18th version, the Nike Air Zoom Structure raises the bar for a running shoe that delivers both speed and stability.

Over the last two-plus decades, Nike designers have debunked the notion that stable means slow. They’ve constantly pushed to make the Nike Structure shoe lighter, smoother and more responsive without sacrificing any of its vaunted stability features. The design of the Structure 18 is a quantum leap from past versions where designers revolutioned it from top to bottom.

The Nike team worked closely with elite athletes such as 10,000m silver medalist Galen Rupp and 3,000m world junior champion Mary Cain for insights to bring the distinctive shoe across the finish line. Rupp, who runs nearly all of his 120 miles per week in the Nike Structure, said the Structure 18 gives him a more stable ride and feels faster all the way through his runs.

The Nike Air Zoom Structure 18 delivers uncompromising stability through the combination of an upper featuring Asymetrical Dynamic Flywire and a triple-density Dynamic Support system in the midsole. The new contoured last — created to provide a better fit and more responsive ride — combined with Nike Zoom Air cushioning, provides added toe spring for the snappy, quick-off-the-ground feel athletes expect from Nike Zoom Air.

Designed to provide runners with support and cushioning, the innovative Dynamic Support system uses opposing wedges of foam with different densities to help slow the rate of pronation. Designers enhanced the support in the Nike Air Zoom Structure 18 by adding a third, high-density foam to the existing system. When needed, the three-density Dynamic Support system kicks in to help provide added support and enhance the smooth transition upon foot strike.

The design also features a Nike Engineered Mesh upper with Asymetrical Nike Flywire cables that wrap the foot and provide support without the bulkiness of previous models, letting the foot move naturally. Nike Engineered Mesh also improves comfort and breathability. Nike Engineered Mesh enables designers to precision-engineer ventilation and lightweight support where needed most, improving comfort and breathability.

Nike’s Zoom Air technology is the fastest, most responsive Nike Air cushioning, making it the cushioning of choice for many elite and everyday athletes. Highly responsive Nike Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot combined with the added toe spring of the new Zoom last, provides the Structure 18 with a responsive snap and fast transition.

ENGINEERED FOR SPEED: NIKE ZOOM AIR RUNNING COLLECTION

Nike’s fastest, most responsive Nike Air cushioning Zoom Air presents four new styles for 2014 : Nike Air Zoom Pegasus, Air Zoom Structure, Air Zoom Elite and Air Zoom Streak.

Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31: A neutral running shoe for training day in and day out, the new Pegasus feels faster and more responsive than any model in its impressive 31-year heritage. The latest Pegasus retains key features loved by loyal Pegasus runners – heel Zoom Air for a cushioned ride, a breathable upper and excellent fit – and introduces enhancements like a contoured last for streamlined fit, dropped offset (10 millimeters) for a more natural stance and an engineered midfoot saddle for targeted structure and support.

Nike Air Zoom Structure 18: A stability running shoe for everyday training, the new Structure feels faster, looks great and is built to slow down the rate of pronation. The Structure delivers a smooth transition through the combination of upper stability features such as Dynamic Fit technology working together with the outsole, which includes a lateral crash rail and a Dynamic Support stability system made up of foam with three different levels of density. Together this stabilizes the foot onto the platform and slows down the speed that the foot is starting to roll in. The new contoured last provides added toe spring and combines with Zoom Air cushioning to give the snappy, quick-off-the ground feel.

Nike Air Zoom Elite 7: The lightest of the Zoom training family, featured on a neutral platform, the Nike Air Zoom Elite 7 is designed for tempo runs and athletes who want to stay fast and light on their feet in training or competition. Forefoot Zoom Air gives runners a snappy response off the road. The new edition’s lowered offset (eight millimeters) puts runners closer to the ground for more control, and a sleek upper combines Nike Flywire technology, no-sew overlays and lightweight mesh for a supportive, breathable fit.

Nike Air Zoom Streak 5: More athletes win marathons in the Zoom Streak than any other Nike shoe. The racing flat is built for speed over the miles, with a lightweight, mesh upper and a midsole system of Zoom Air and Phylon for zippy forefoot snap. Nike Flywire technology wraps the midfoot for excellent fit and a seamless toe construction helps eliminate any irritation as the finish line nears.

NIKE LUNARGLIDE 6 DELIVERS LIGHTWEIGHT CUSHIONING FOR THE LONG RUN

Press Release: The shoe whose namesake cushioning was inspired by astronauts bounding weightlessly on the moon is more stable than ever. With lightweight Nike Lunarlon cushioning, enhanced stability, support and style, the shoe delivers a plush, responsive ride that runners love.

Since the launch of Lunarlon cushioning six years ago, this hugely popular cushioning technology has been adopted across eight different styles and categories. Today, the Nike LunarGlide 6 debuts with a lighter version of Lunarlon foam, a redesigned outsole pattern, enhanced Dynamic Support stability and an all-new engineered upper.

To enhance stability, designers first increased the angle of Dynamic Support technology, the two-part midsole system introduced in the original LunarGlide in 2009 to provide runners both cushioning and stability. Whereas traditional stability shoes have a medial post, the LunarGlide’s Dynamic Support uses opposing wedges of foam with different densities to offer a smooth, stable transition.

More stability was added in the upper, engineered with soft foam and breathable, lightweight mesh that conforms to the foot. As the team strived to remove as much material as possible to deliver lightweight comfort and enhance natural motion, a beautiful and breathable graphic pattern emerged. Nike Flywire integrates with the upper to hug the foot for an adaptive fit, and a supportive heel clip provides snug, comfortable lockdown.
