MSDeaf president Kamarzaman Harun and organising chairman Patrick Bernard
Using sign language, the 21-year-old, who started running four years ago, said he hoped to reach the finishing point within two hours.
“I like running and being hearing impaired is a challenge as it affects my balance a little,” he said.
“It was tough at the beginning as there was no coach to teach me and I felt tired, but I eventually I got used to it,” added Farid.
The Run For the Deaf 2014 will be held on Sept 28 in conjunction with the International Deaf Day and it aims to spread awareness and understanding among the public about the hardships in life for the deaf community the world over.
The event, which is the brainchild of organising chairman Patrick Bernard, is to be held in collaboration with the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf). Bernard said the event was expected to attract more than 3,000 participants in the 10km event and 5km fun run. More details at theStar.
