MPIB Run 2015 - Launching Project Good Deeds
Kuala Lumpur, 9 December 2014 - Multi-Purpose Insurans Bhd will be counting down the 30 days to its Race day at Pacific Regency Hotel Suites on 12 Dec 2014. The cocktail event will also be the launch pad fo Project Good Deeds, and initiative that collects pre-loved sports/running shoes and tee shirts for the Orang Asli community.
The countdown is shelved for a week following the postponement of MPIB Run 2015 in support of the KL City Hall's "1st Sunday Kuala Lumpur Car Free Morning". However, it has not dented MPIB;s excitement for its upcoming Race. Project Leader Ms. Jayne Liew shares her thoughts. "The Countdown event allows us to keep building the momentum beside providing members o the media a good platform to find out more about us and our annual community Run".
On how Project Good Deeds was conceived, Ms Jayne offers this brief history. "The project came about following the feedback of our Runs' participants, who replaced their shoes regularly for the maintenance of their performance. Project Good Deeds allows its runners to reduce waste and practise reusing by donating their still wearable shoes and tee shirts to her indigenous minority community."
Project Good Deeds is preceded by Project Goo Deed Shoes, which collected 249 pairs of shoes for 2 Orang Asli settlements. With the doubling of the beneficiaries to 4 settlements in Project Good Deeds, MPIB hopes the number of donors and collected items would increase.
MPIB Run 2015 will be the 4th Run organized by the general insurer with the support of a host of sponsors and partners including New Balance (Official Apparel), Revive Isotonic (Official Isotonic), Pacific Regency Hotel Group (Official Hotel) and Running Man (official Media - Magazine).

MPIB RUN 2015 - Postponed to 11 January 2015
MPIB RUN 2015 has been postponed to 11 January 2015
Kuala Lumpur, 3 December 2014 – Multi-Purpose Insurans Bhd (“MPIB”) wishes to inform the postponement of its Race to 11 January 2015 from 4 January 2015 as originally scheduled. However, the venue will remain the same at the Padang Merbuk.
Project Leader Ms. Jayne Liew comments, ‘We would very much like to continue to be known as the 1st Sunday Run of the Year but due to its being held on the same morning as the “1st Sunday Kuala Lumpur Car Free Morning” of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (“DBKL”), we have been requested to postpone our Race in support of this environmentally inspired campaign.’
MPIB Run shares DBKL’s aspiration in promoting a greener city, reduce global warming and to add to it a car-free morning to promote community bonding. In the process, it will make Kuala Lumpur a better city with space for walking, running, biking and in general more healthy outdoor activities, at least for the 1st Sunday morning of the month. MPIB extends its sincere apologies for causing any inconvenience and seeks understanding for the postponement. Should any registered Runner decide to opt out due to other commitments on 11 January 2015, arrangements are in place with My Race Online to make the necessary refunds by contacting info@myraceonline.com or calling +603-7491 0505 (Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.).
Runners running with coupon codes but unable to make it for the new Race date are advised to contact Natalie at natalie_hau@mpib.com.my or +603-2034 9888 Ext: 7807.
The withdrawal period for both registered runners and runners with coupon codes is 5 working days (between 4 December 2014 and 10 December 2014 by 5 p.m.).
The Race Entry Pack Collection details for city folks will take place as planned on 27 and 28 December 2014. However, the collection for outstation runners will only be held on 10 January 2015 instead of 3 January 2015.
Despite this setback, MPIB looks forward to organising another successful community run for all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. To be held again at the Padang Merbuk, the 4th MPIB Run will have 6 competitive categories, namely 3 categories each for the 12KM and 9KM (a new challenge for those who participated in the 8KM distance of the previous Run). There will also be 2 Fun Run categories of 5KM, while runners’ family members and friends who prefer something “lighter” can opt to join the 3KM walk.
The run’s Organising Committee encourages the public to make regular visits to the MPIB Run official website at http://www.mpibrun.com.my/ or its Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MPIBRun for the latest updates.

MPIB Run 2015 - Run for a Healthy Start to 2015
The 1st Sunday Run of 2015 sees good response with not many slots left
Ms Jayne Liew, the Project Leader said ‘Registration started very well with many taking up the early bird offer when registration commenced in August but it slowed a bit during the Hari Raya Adilfitri and Deepavali holidays. However, we are seeing an increased no. of registrations these 2 weeks after the launch of our My First Run Clinic in mid-October. There are not many slots left now and we are certainly happy to observe that many registrants are new runners joining our Run for the 1st time. Another factor could be the year is fast coming to a close and many are signing up to begin 2015 with health on their minds.”
Multi-Purpose Insurans Run (MPIB Run), a community run in its 4th year is the 1st Sunday Run of Year and will be happening on 4 January 2015 at the Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur. It hopes to gather 5,000 new and interested runners to take up running as a healthy recreational activity and to kick-start the year on a healthy note.
